The Middle Corridor (Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, TITR) will be the central topic of discussion at the Germany-Azerbaijan Connectivity Conference, scheduled to take place in Baku on October 6.
This was reported to the Operative Information Center-OMM by the German-Azerbaijani Chamber of Commerce (AHK Azerbaijan).
According to the information, the conference, organized by AHK Azerbaijan in cooperation with the Government of Azerbaijan, will be dedicated to mobilizing investments in infrastructure, transport, logistics, green energy, and digitalization. It is expected to serve as a key platform for transforming the institutional momentum generated by the Business Council into concrete projects and partnerships.
"Azerbaijan's strategic position between Europe and Central Asia, particularly along the Middle Corridor, creates new cooperation opportunities in the fields of transport, logistics, and sustainable supply chains. Port and railway infrastructure, digital logistics solutions, and the reduction of transit times are practical areas of cooperation for German and Azerbaijani businesses," the Chamber stated.
The TITR is an international transport route connecting China with European countries via Kazakhstan, the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan, and Georgia. The association provides necessary information support, assists in simplifying administrative procedures, fosters a competitive environment, and helps achieve maximum efficiency for participants from various countries, including those not geographically located directly along the TITR route.
According to statistics from the Ministry of Transport of Kazakhstan, the volume of cargo transportation along this route has shown stable positive dynamics: 759,000 tons in 2019, 783,000 tons in 2020, 586,000 tons in 2021, 1.485 million tons in 2022, 2.764 million tons in 2023, and 4.484 million tons in 2024.
Data from the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) indicates that in 2025, the volume of cargo transported via the Middle Corridor reached 4.7 million tons, with a further 10% increase expected by 2027. By 2027, the capacity of the Middle Corridor could reach 10 million tons annually, which will strengthen Azerbaijan's transit potential and open opportunities for attracting additional investments into infrastructure projects. It should be noted that the target figure for cargo transportation via the TITR by 2030 has been set at 11.4 million tons.
