The European Union has officially joined the US-led "Economic Outcast" operation targeting Iran. This strategic alignment marks a significant escalation in international efforts to restrict Tehran's financial capabilities, according to reports from international media outlets.
"The European Union has officially joined the 'Economic Outcast' operation, and we highly value the decisive and timely position it has demonstrated," said US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent. He emphasized that Washington, in coordination with its allies, will prevent the Iranian regime from utilizing the global financial system to fund its nuclear ambitions, weapons programs, and terrorist proxy forces.
"The world is sending a clear message to the Iranian regime: we will not stop until all existing financial lifelines are severed," Bessent stressed. The Operative Information Center-OMM reports that this development follows previous commitments by the EU to cooperate closely with the United States, G7 nations, and other international partners.
The "Economic Outcast" operation, launched by the United States on August 24, aims to maintain sustained pressure on Iran to curb regional instability. As part of this campaign, Washington has pledged to block all of Iran's funding sources. Furthermore, the US has issued a stern warning that it may impose secondary sanctions on any nation that provides assistance to the Iranian regime, further isolating its economy from global markets.
