A man suspected of misappropriating 24,000 manats from a citizen under the pretext of securing employment has been detained.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs told "Operative Information Center-OMM".
A Baku resident filed a complaint with police, saying that an acquaintance had taken 24,000 manats from him by promising to find a job for his wife.
As a result of measures carried out by police, O. Rahimov, 34, was identified and detained on suspicion of committing the fraud. He had previously been convicted of a similar offense.
Investigators established that he had allegedly committed similar offenses against other people at different times in Baku and Absheron District.
A criminal case has been opened and the investigation is ongoing.
Fraud involving promises of employment is investigated under Azerbaijan’s criminal law, with law enforcement agencies urging citizens to verify job offers and avoid making unofficial payments to intermediaries.
