Diesel price in Belgium hits all-time high

The price of diesel in Belgium has reached an all-time high after the country’s Economy Ministry raised the regulated maximum price for fuel.

From Sept. 22, the price of B7 diesel increased by 3.3 euro cents to €2.50 ($2.78) per liter, according to the Belgian Economy Ministry. The new price surpassed the previous record of €2.489, set on April 9.

Prices rise for different diesel types

The maximum price for B10 diesel, which contains up to 10% biodiesel, also rose by 3.4 euro cents to €2.493 per liter.

Heating diesel rose to €1.6217 per liter for orders below 2,000 liters and €1.5812 per liter for larger orders. Gas stations are prohibited from charging more than the regulated maximum prices.

Supply disruptions affect oil prices

Transportation problems in the Strait of Hormuz and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, together with attacks that damaged Saudi Arabia’s East-West Pipeline supplying oil to the Red Sea, have recently pushed the price of Brent crude above $100 per barrel.
