"Zəngəzur" elektrik xəttində birinci mərhələdə işlər yekunlaşır

The first phase of the construction of the Zangezur power line, aimed at connecting the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic to the main electricity system of Azerbaijan and forming the Azerbaijan-Nakhchivan-Türkiye-Europe international energy corridor, is nearing completion.

This information was provided to the Operative Information Center-OMM by AzerEnergy OJSC.

According to the directives of the head of state, AzerEnergy is finalizing the construction of a 330-kilovolt high-voltage transmission line with a capacity of 1,000 megawatts, spanning 74 kilometers from Jabrayil to Aghband. Approximately 97 percent of the work on the transmission line, which consists of 296 anchor and intermediate towers—each weighing over 30 tons and standing nearly 45 meters tall—has been completed. Despite challenging climate conditions and rugged terrain, the work was executed by AzerEnergy ahead of schedule.

The subsequent stages of the project involve the construction of transmission lines spanning 100 kilometers from Ordubad to Nakhchivan, 44 kilometers crossing the Zangezur corridor, and 230 kilometers from Nakhchivan to Türkiye.

This project holds strategic significance as one of the largest energy initiatives in the history of Azerbaijan. It is designed to ensure the full integration of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic into the country's unified energy system, eliminate the autonomous republic's dependence on foreign countries for frequency regulation, create opportunities for access to European energy markets, and facilitate the transmission of "green energy."
