The Minister of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov, has sent a letter of condolence to the Minister of National Defense of the Republic of Turkiye, Mr. Yaşar Güler.
According to the Ministry of Defense, the message was shared with Operative Information Center-OMM. The letter expressed deep sorrow regarding the tragic loss of a Turkish military personnel following a flight accident.
"I am deeply saddened by the news of the death of a serviceman as a result of the crash of an F-16 fighter jet belonging to the Republic of Turkiye. I pray to Almighty Allah for the soul of the deceased serviceman, share the grief of his loved ones, and offer my deepest condolences to his family. May he rest in peace," the condolence message reads.
The defense cooperation between Azerbaijan and Turkiye remains a cornerstone of regional security, characterized by frequent joint exercises and mutual support. The two brotherly nations maintain a "One Nation, Two States" philosophy, which extends to high-level solidarity during times of military loss and national mourning.
