A technical malfunction occurred on a train traveling along the Red line in the "Icherisheher–Sahil" section of the Baku Metro at approximately 11:18 AM today.

The Operative Information Center-OMM was officially informed of the incident by "Baku Metro" CJSC. According to the official statement, passengers were evacuated at "Sahil" station in accordance with safety regulations to allow for a necessary technical inspection of the rolling stock.

The department noted that the malfunctioning train is currently being removed from the line by an auxiliary locomotive. As a result of the incident, delays are being observed in the movement of trains on both the Red and Green lines. However, operations on the Purple line, as well as the "Jafar Jabbarli-Khatai" and "Hazi Aslanov-Ahmedli" sections, continue to function according to the schedule. "We thank the passengers for their understanding," the statement emphasized.

The Baku Metro, which first opened in 1967, serves as the primary backbone of public transportation in Azerbaijan's capital. It currently consists of three lines—Red, Green, and Purple—spanning over 40 kilometers and serving millions of commuters annually. This technical disruption highlights the ongoing challenges of maintaining high-frequency transit in a growing metropolis, where the operator continues to implement modernization programs to enhance safety and reliability across the network.
