Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban held a telephone conversation to discuss bilateral cooperation and energy security.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports, citing foreign media, that the discussion focused on ensuring the energy stability of both nations against the backdrop of the ongoing crisis in the Middle East.
President Vucic emphasized the importance of the dialogue, noting that the current global climate presents significant challenges. "Today is one of the most difficult days in Europe and the world in terms of energy security. Together with Prime Minister Orban, I explored all options to jointly overcome the crisis in various energy sectors," Vucic stated. He further noted that both Belgrade and Budapest maintain that peace and stability in the region remain their highest priority and interest.
Energy cooperation between Serbia and Hungary has intensified in recent years, particularly regarding the transit of natural gas through the Balkan Stream pipeline. As landlocked nations in Central and Eastern Europe, both countries are heavily reliant on secure energy corridors and have frequently coordinated their foreign and energy policies to safeguard their domestic markets. This latest high-level contact underscores the strategic partnership between Belgrade and Budapest in navigating the volatile international energy landscape.
