As previously reported, President Ilham Aliyev met with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, on February 4. During the meeting, the sides noted that both societies have begun to witness the tangible benefits of peace in real life.
In a statement to the "Operative Information Center-OMM", Nagif Hamzayev, a member of the Milli Majlis (National Assembly), characterized the expanded meeting held during President Ilham Aliyev's visit to the UAE as a significant and next step in the process of normalizing Azerbaijan-Armenia relations.

The MP stated that the UAE's hosting of this meeting and the readiness of the parties for constructive dialogue indicate that the peace process in the region is ongoing. According to him, the expanded format of the meeting demonstrates that the normalization process is not limited to personal contacts between the two leaders but is being conducted systematically with the participation of state agencies and delegations.
Nagif Hamzayev noted that this format creates a favorable basis for discussions on the preparation of a peace treaty, border delimitation, the opening of transport and communication lines, and other vital issues. He emphasized that the position demonstrated by President Ilham Aliyev once again confirms Azerbaijan's principled yet constructive approach.

"Azerbaijan is open to peace and regional cooperation. However, this process must be implemented based on full respect for our country's sovereignty, territorial integrity, and the principles of international law," the MP added.
The meeting in Abu Dhabi reflects a growing trend of regional diplomacy in the South Caucasus. Since the full restoration of its sovereignty, Azerbaijan has prioritized direct negotiations and the involvement of neutral, constructive mediators to finalize a sustainable peace agreement. The UAE's role as a host underscores the international community's recognition of Azerbaijan's strategic importance and its commitment to establishing long-term stability in the region.
