Two servicemen of the Azerbaijan Army, Mahammad Alibaba oglu Huseynov and Kamil Jamil oglu Gaflanov, were injured in a landmine explosion on May 11 while performing their official duties in the territory of the Kalbajar district.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan released a statement regarding the incident. According to the ministry, the injured personnel were immediately evacuated to a nearby medical facility for urgent treatment.

"The servicemen were provided with immediate first aid, and their condition is currently stable. They are continuing their treatment at a military medical facility. An investigation into the fact is underway," the Ministry of Defense stated.

The Kalbajar district, where the incident occurred, is one of the regions heavily contaminated with mines and unexploded ordnance. Since the end of the 44-day Patriotic War in 2020, Azerbaijan has been conducting extensive demining operations in its liberated territories to ensure the safe return of internally displaced persons and the progress of large-scale reconstruction projects. The threat of landmines remains a significant challenge for both military personnel and civilians working in these areas.
