Thirteen people have been detained in Turkey as part of an investigation into allegations of interference with delegates' voting intentions during the 38th congress of the Republican People's Party (CHP).
According to Operative Information Center-OMM, citing TRT Haber, police operations were carried out across seven provinces, including Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir, Sanliurfa, Kahramanmaras, Kilis, and Malatya.
The detentions follow a significant ruling by the Ankara Regional Court of Justice, which annulled the results of the CHP congress held on November 4-5, 2023. Under the court's decision, current party chairman Ozgur Ozel and the party leadership have been temporarily suspended from their duties, while former CHP leader Kemal Kilicdaroglu and his administration have been reinstated.
