A magnitude 4.7 earthquake has occurred off the coast of Antalya, Turkey, causing brief concern among residents in the Mediterranean region.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) released official data regarding the seismic activity. According to AFAD, the tremor was recorded at a depth of 16.17 kilometers below the sea level.
Turkey is situated on several active fault lines, making it one of the most seismically active regions in the world. The province of Antalya, a major international tourism hub, frequently experiences minor to moderate tremors due to its proximity to the Hellenic Arc and various local fault systems. Following the earthquake, local authorities have begun monitoring the situation, though no immediate damage or casualties have been reported in the coastal districts of Azerbaijan's strategic partner, Turkey.
