Recent footage circulating on social media has sparked public discussion regarding new devices installed on the road leading to the Heydar Aliyev International Airport. Users claimed these devices were new speed cameras designed to capture vehicles from behind to detect traffic violations.
The Intelligent Transport Management Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) clarified to the Operative Information Center-OMM that the equipment shown in the images is not a speed radar. Instead, the electronic devices are specifically designed to measure traffic intensity and monitor traffic flow patterns.
"Data collected through these devices is utilized for traffic organization, analysis of traffic flow, and overall management processes," the Center stated. "The mentioned equipment does not have the functionality to issue electronic protocols for administrative traffic offenses."
It should be noted that these new technical devices have been installed on the Zigh-Hovsan-Airport highway, commonly referred to by locals as the "Concrete Road." The Intelligent Transport Management Center, which operates under the MIA, is responsible for the digital oversight of road infrastructure in Baku, ensuring that traffic management systems are modernized to improve road safety and reduce congestion in the capital of Azerbaijan.
