Isa Hashemi, the son of Iran's former Vice President for Women and Family Affairs Masoumeh Ebtekar, has been detained in the United States and stripped of his permanent resident status.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the US Department of State issued a statement confirming the detention of Hashemi along with his wife and son. According to official reports, the family members are currently in custody awaiting deportation from the country.

The Department of State further noted that all three individuals arrived in the United States in 2014 and obtained their "Green cards" (permanent residency) in 2016. This move follows a series of similar actions by the administration of US President Donald Trump targeting the relatives of high-ranking Iranian officials and individuals linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

Earlier, US authorities detained the niece and grand-nephew of Qasem Soleimani, the former commander of the IRGC's Quds Force who was killed by US forces in 2020. Their residency permits were also revoked. Additionally, the legal permanent resident status of the daughter and son-in-law of Ali Larijani, the former secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, has been canceled, and they have been banned from re-entering the United States.

These enforcement actions reflect the ongoing geopolitical tensions between Washington and Tehran. Under the leadership of US President Donald Trump, the United States has intensified its scrutiny of Iranian nationals with ties to the clerical establishment, citing national security concerns and the enforcement of immigration policies regarding foreign government affiliates. Such measures are part of a broader strategy to exert pressure on the Iranian leadership by targeting the international privileges of their immediate family members.
