Heavy rainfall, accompanied by intermittent lightning, continues to affect most regions of Azerbaijan. In certain areas, the precipitation has been torrential, with particularly intense downpours recorded in the Balakan-Shaki zone.
According to the latest update from the National Hydrometeorology Service as of 9:00 a.m. on July 7, as reported by the "Operativ Məlumat Mərkəzi-OMM", the intensity of the weather event has been significant in the northwestern regions.
Data on precipitation levels indicates that Balakan received 111 mm of rainfall, which accounts for 144% of the monthly norm. Other notable measurements include 29 mm in Gakh (Saribash), 16 mm in Shaki (Kishchay), 9 mm in Zagatala and Khaltan, 6 mm in Goygol, 5 mm in Aghstafa, and 4 mm in Gadabay. Lesser amounts were recorded in various other locations, including Oghuz, Kalbajar, Dashkasan, Nakhchivan, Shahbuz, Sadarak, Naftalan, Goranboy, Ganja, Shamkir, Tovuz, Gabala, Khizi, Guba, Gusar, Shahdag, Barda, Yevlax, Lerik, Astara, Aghdam, Lachin, Qubadli, Shusha, Khankendi, Khojaly, and Fuzuli, where rainfall reached 1 mm.
In Baku and the Absheron Peninsula, a north-westerly wind is currently blowing, with maximum speeds reaching 16 meters per second.
The National Hydrometeorology Service, which operates under the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan, is responsible for monitoring weather patterns and providing early warnings for hazardous meteorological events.
