The Ministry of Emergency Situations of Azerbaijan received an alert via its "112" hotline regarding a drowning incident in the Caspian Sea near the Corat settlement of Sumgait. The incident occurred in an uncontrolled area, approximately 1.5 kilometers away from the nearest lifeguard station.
The Ministry informed the Operative Information Center-OMM that, upon receiving the report, divers from the State Service for Control over Small Ships and Water Rescue were immediately dispatched to the scene to conduct search and rescue operations.
Following the search, the divers recovered the body of Umid Tamaddin oglu Huseynli, born in 2000, from the water. The body has been handed over to the relevant authorities for further processing.
The Ministry of Emergency Situations frequently reminds citizens to adhere to safety regulations and swim only in designated areas where lifeguard supervision is present. Swimming in uncontrolled zones, particularly in the Caspian Sea, poses significant risks due to unpredictable currents and sudden changes in water depth, which can lead to tragic outcomes even for experienced swimmers.
