The internet shutdown in Iran has entered its 41st day, with total network disruptions now exceeding 960 hours.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the internet monitoring group NetBlocks released the latest data regarding the ongoing connectivity issues.
"This measure, unprecedented in its scale and duration for a connected society, continues to violate the rights of Iranians to communicate and stay informed," the monitoring group stated in its official report. The restrictions have significantly hampered the ability of citizens to access global platforms and digital services.
Iran has a history of implementing strict internet controls during periods of social unrest or political sensitivity. These measures often include throttling bandwidth, blocking social media applications, and total regional blackouts to control the flow of information. International human rights organizations frequently criticize such shutdowns, noting that they impede freedom of expression and limit access to essential services in the modern digital age.
