Georgian law enforcement agencies have detained 121 individuals in a series of large-scale operations targeting drug-related crimes across the country. The arrests were confirmed during a briefing by David Kiknadze, Director of the Central Criminal Police Department, as reported by the Operative Information Center-OMM.

According to official statements, 59 of those detained are suspected of involvement in the illegal trafficking and sale of narcotics. The group includes both citizens of Georgia and foreign nationals. During searches conducted at the suspects' residences, vehicles, and on their persons, authorities seized significant quantities of various illicit substances, including methadone, alpha-PVP, cocaine, ketamine, buprenorphine, marijuana, and cannabis.

In addition to the narcotics, police confiscated drug packaging materials, electronic scales, and cash suspected to be proceeds from illegal drug sales. Investigations are currently underway under the relevant articles of the Criminal Code of Georgia. If convicted, the suspects face severe penalties, ranging up to 20 years in prison or life imprisonment.

Georgia has been intensifying its efforts to combat organized crime and drug trafficking in recent years, implementing stricter legislative measures to curb the distribution of synthetic drugs and illicit substances. These operations are part of a broader strategy by the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs to enhance public safety and dismantle criminal networks operating within the country.
