Prosecutor General's Office holds expanded board meeting

An expanded board meeting was held on January 28 under the leadership of Prosecutor General Kamran Aliyev to discuss the work carried out by the prosecution authorities of the Republic of Azerbaijan in 2025 and the tasks ahead.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, it was noted during the meeting that 31,852 crimes were registered across the country in 2025, with 90.5 percent of them being solved. In total, the investigation of 15,766 criminal cases was completed. Through investigative measures, the recovery of 59.5 percent of more than 435 million manats in material damage was ensured.

Investigations conducted by the prosecution authorities identified damages totaling 94.8 million manats, and assets worth more than 82 million manats were placed under arrest. Furthermore, the amnesty act declared on the occasion of the "Year of Constitution and Sovereignty" was applied to 14,589 individuals. During the reporting period, legal explanations were provided to citizens regarding more than 28,000 inquiries received by the Prosecutor General's Office Call Center.

Kamran Aliyev highlighted that the "Electronic Prosecution" information system has received high international praise, earning a certificate as the "Best Anti-Corruption Initiative." Additionally, the extradition of 65 accused persons from abroad was secured. However, disciplinary measures were also taken within the department; 25 prosecution employees were held disciplinarily liable for service-related shortcomings, and 6 individuals were dismissed from the prosecution authorities.

Concluding the board meeting, Prosecutor General Kamran Aliyev stated that prosecution employees will resolutely continue their struggle against crime directed at state sovereignty, the protection of socio-political stability, and the insurance of the rule of law. Specific instructions were issued regarding increasing the quality of investigations, maintaining a sensitive approach to citizen appeals, and strengthening crime prevention in the coming period.

The Prosecutor General's Office of Azerbaijan plays a pivotal role in the nation's legal framework, serving as the primary body responsible for supervising the execution of laws and conducting criminal investigations. These annual reviews are essential for maintaining transparency and ensuring that the judicial system aligns with international standards and the national interests of Azerbaijan.
