On April 23, an expanded board meeting was held at the Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Azerbaijan, chaired by Prosecutor General Kamran Aliyev. The session was dedicated to the work performed during the current year and the discussion of upcoming priority tasks.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, citing the Prosecutor General's Office, the meeting highlighted the achievements of the prosecution authorities and outlined key priorities for further improving the quality of service. Significant attention was given to the organizational and legal issues necessary for the implementation of electronic criminal proceedings, including the collection and storage of digital evidence, in accordance with recent amendments to the Criminal and Criminal Procedure Codes.
During the meeting, Deputy Prosecutor General Heydar Mammadov reported on the preparations for the third high-level meeting of heads of anti-corruption law enforcement agencies from the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) member states, which is scheduled to be held in Azerbaijan. He emphasized that hosting this prestigious event is a testament to Azerbaijan's active participation in international law enforcement cooperation and its proactive stance in the global fight against corruption. The forum is expected to facilitate the exchange of expertise and strengthen institutional cooperation among participating states.
Furthermore, reports were delivered by Tural Aslanov, Head of the Organizational and Execution Control Department; Nemat Avazov, Head of the Investigative Department; Akif Mammadyarov and Aydin Verdiyev, representing the IT and Cybersecurity divisions; and other officials. The discussions covered the transition to digital investigative processes and personnel appointments in line with the Law "On Service in the Prosecutor's Office."
The transition to digital justice is part of a broader judicial-legal reform initiative in Azerbaijan aimed at increasing transparency and efficiency within the legal system. By integrating modern information technologies, the Prosecutor General's Office seeks to streamline investigative processes and ensure more robust protection of citizens' rights. These reforms align with the national strategy to modernize state institutions and enhance the rule of law across the country.
Concluding the meeting, Prosecutor General Kamran Aliyev expressed his confidence that every employee of the prosecution authorities would mobilize their knowledge and experience to meet the challenges of this new procedural phase. He stressed that the activities of the office will continue to be conducted at the highest level to ensure the rule of law, protect the rights and freedoms of citizens, and safeguard the interests of the state.
