Heavy rainfall continues in Balakan and Shaki regions

As of 10:00 AM on June 26, intermittent lightning and rainfall have been observed in various parts of Azerbaijan, with intense downpours concentrated in the Balakan-Shaki zone.

The Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the National Hydrometeorology Service has issued an update regarding the current meteorological situation across the country.

According to the latest data, significant precipitation levels were recorded in several districts: 37 mm in Shaki (Kishchay), 20 mm in Zagatala, 19 mm in Oghuz, 15 mm in Gakh, 12 mm in Balakan, 10 mm in Goychay and Gabala, 9 mm in Mingachevir, 8 mm in Shamakhi, 7 mm in Aghdam, 6 mm in Shahdag, 5 mm in Gusar, 4 mm in Guba, 3 mm in Zardab, and 2 mm in Gobustan. Rainfall of up to 1 mm was also recorded in Nakhchivan, Ordubad, Gadabay, Khizi, Shabran, Barda, Tartar, Yevlax, Imishli, Shusha, Fuzuli, Kalbajar, and Zangilan.

Regarding temperature conditions, the maximum air temperature reached 31°C in Baku and the Absheron Peninsula, 32°C in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, 35°C in the lowland districts, and up to 23°C in the mountainous regions.

The Balakan-Shaki zone is located in the northwestern part of Azerbaijan, a region characterized by complex mountainous terrain and frequent atmospheric instability, particularly during the summer months. The National Hydrometeorology Service continues to monitor the situation to assess potential impacts on local agriculture and infrastructure.
