A suspect has been detained in Baku for stealing a safe containing cash and gift vouchers from a commercial facility located in the Narimanov district of the capital.
According to information provided by the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the safe contained 500 Azerbaijani manats in cash and gift coupons valued at 1,950 manats. The individual reportedly took advantage of the store employees being occupied to seize the safe and remove it through the building's rear exit.
Following operational measures conducted by officers of the 16th Police Station of the Narimanov District Police Department, 25-year-old Maksim Mahmudov was identified and taken into custody as a suspect in the crime. An investigation into the incident is currently underway to determine all circumstances of the theft.
The Narimanov district is one of the primary administrative and commercial hubs of Baku, hosting numerous retail outlets and business centers. The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan continues to implement comprehensive measures to ensure public order and the protection of private property across the capital, utilizing modern surveillance and rapid response units to combat property crimes.
