Strong north-westerly winds have been recorded across several regions of Azerbaijan, impacting the capital and surrounding areas.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the National Hydrometeorological Service released an update at 10:00 a.m. on July 27, detailing the current weather conditions.
While the country is largely experiencing dry weather, the report highlights significant wind activity. The maximum wind speed in Baku and the Absheron peninsula has reached 28 m/s. Other regions are also reporting high wind speeds, with Mingachevir recording 23 m/s, Naftalan 22 m/s, Khachmaz and Ganja 20 m/s, Goranboy 19 m/s, and Shabran 16 m/s.
The Absheron Peninsula, which includes the capital city of Baku, is frequently subject to strong winds due to its unique geographical location along the Caspian Sea coast. The National Hydrometeorological Service regularly monitors these atmospheric shifts to provide timely warnings to the public and relevant infrastructure authorities, ensuring safety during periods of adverse weather conditions.
