A fire broke out in the dormitory of a special boarding school in the Nizami district of Baku, prompting an immediate response from emergency services. The incident occurred at the Republican Special Boarding School No. 3 for children with disabilities, located on Gara Garayev Avenue.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the Ministry of Emergency Situations received an alert via the "112" hotline. Units from the State Fire Protection Service and the Special Risky Rescue Service were immediately dispatched to the scene. Thanks to the prompt intervention of the firefighting teams, the blaze, which originated in a first-floor corridor of the three-story building, was extinguished before it could spread to other parts of the facility. The fire damaged clothing items, a plastic window frame, and a cabinet over a five-square-meter area, while no injuries were reported.
Safety protocols in educational and social institutions in Azerbaijan are strictly monitored by the Ministry of Emergency Situations to ensure the protection of vulnerable groups. The Republican Special Boarding School No. 3 is one of several specialized facilities in the capital dedicated to the care and education of children with physical or developmental challenges. Such institutions are subject to regular fire safety inspections to prevent major incidents and ensure rapid evacuation procedures are in place.
