A fire that broke out in a building on Yusif Mammadaliyev Street in the Sabail district of Baku has been fully extinguished by the State Fire Protection Service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES), preventing the blaze from spreading further.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the fire affected an area of 120 square meters. The damage includes the combustible structures of three non-residential units on the first floor and the flooring of a three-room apartment on the second floor. The majority of the building was successfully protected from the fire.

Medical response and casualties

The Republic Center for Emergency and Urgent Medical Aid reported that two men were hospitalized at the Toxicology Department of the Clinical Medical Center due to smoke inhalation. Their condition is currently assessed as stable. Additionally, four individuals—one woman and three men—received on-site medical assistance for stress and minor smoke inhalation.

Colonel Ilgar Nasibov, head of the firefighting headquarters of the MES State Fire Protection Service, stated at the scene that the building, which dates back to an earlier period, featured wooden structural elements that complicated firefighting efforts. A total of 62 personnel and 12 vehicles were deployed to contain the blaze. Six residents were evacuated from the building during the operation.

The Sabail district, located in the heart of Baku, contains many historic buildings with older architectural features, including wooden partitions, which often require specialized firefighting protocols. The Ministry of Emergency Situations is currently investigating the cause of the incident.
