Azerbaijan police detain 72 suspects in nationwide operations

Azerbaijani police detained 72 individuals suspected of various crimes during operations conducted across the country on May 2 and 3. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), law enforcement officers ensured the resolution of 80 crimes recorded during this period, as well as 15 cold cases from previous periods.

The press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) informed Operative Information Center-OMM that a total of 80 wanted persons were apprehended and handed over to the relevant authorities. This figure includes 49 individuals sought as debtors, six missing persons who had left their residences without notifying family members, and 13 individuals wanted for fraud. Additionally, 31 drug-related incidents were identified, resulting in the seizure of approximately 7.3 kilograms of narcotics. Operations also led to the discovery of illegal weaponry, including seven automatic rifles, two shotguns, and 13 rounds of ammunition across Baku and various regions of Azerbaijan.

These operations are part of Azerbaijan's ongoing efforts to ensure public safety and combat organized crime and illegal drug trafficking. The Ministry of Internal Affairs regularly conducts comprehensive measures to maintain law and order, focusing on the apprehension of wanted individuals and the removal of illegal firearms from circulation. Such proactive policing strategies are central to Azerbaijan's domestic security policy, aimed at reducing crime rates and enhancing the safety of citizens throughout the country.
