Azerbaijan registered 20,362 newborn babies during the first three months of the current year, according to registration departments of the Ministry of Justice. The report indicates that the birth rate per 1,000 people in Azerbaijan decreased from 8.8 to 8.0 compared to the corresponding period in 2025. Of the total newborns, 53.8 percent were boys and 46.2 percent were girls. The statistics further reveal that the births included 698 sets of twins and 27 sets of triplets. Meanwhile, 15,019 deaths were recorded in January-March 2026, with the mortality rate per 1,000 people increasing from 5.6 to 5.9 compared to the previous year.
