During the first four months of this year, Azerbaijan recorded 28,631 births, according to the latest data from the State Statistical Committee.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that while the birth rate remains significant, the indicator per 1,000 people has decreased from 9.4 to 8.5 compared to the same period in 2025.
The demographic breakdown shows that 53.6 percent of the newborns were boys, while 46.4 percent were girls. Notably, the statistics highlight a high number of multiple births, with 980 sets of twins and 39 sets of triplets recorded during this period.
In addition to birth statistics, the report indicates that 21,277 deaths were registered in the country between January and April. The mortality rate per 1,000 people saw a slight increase, rising from 6.1 to 6.3 compared to the corresponding period in 2025.
The State Statistical Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan regularly monitors demographic trends to assist in national policy planning. These statistics are essential for the government to assess social welfare needs, healthcare infrastructure requirements, and long-term population growth strategies across the country.
