Ağdam rayonunda mina partlayışı baş verib

On September 5, a landmine explosion occurred in the village of Chamanli Saricali in the Aghdam district, an area liberated from occupation. The incident resulted in injuries to a civilian.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), the Prosecutor General's Office, and the Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA) issued a joint statement regarding the incident.

Official reports indicate that Elmdar Sariyan, a 52-year-old resident of the Shotlanli village in the Aghjabadi district, was operating a tractor in a non-cleared area when the vehicle struck a mine. Sariyan sustained injuries as a result of the blast. The Aghdam District Prosecutor's Office has launched an investigation into the incident.

Following the explosion, ANAMA, the MIA, and the Prosecutor General's Office have reiterated their urgent call for citizens to strictly adhere to safety protocols. Authorities emphasized the importance of observing mine warning signs, avoiding contact with suspicious objects, refraining from entering unfamiliar territories, and respecting restricted areas marked for demining operations.

Since the end of the 44-day Patriotic War in 2020, the Republic of Azerbaijan has faced a significant challenge regarding landmines and unexploded ordnance in the liberated territories. These remnants of war continue to pose a severe threat to the safety of civilians and hinder large-scale reconstruction and resettlement efforts in the Garabagh region.
