The United States and Israeli forces have carried out air strikes targeting the city of Tabriz in Iran, causing damage to strategic infrastructure.
According to Operative Information Center-OMM, the ISNA news agency reported the incident citing the Crisis Management Department of East Azerbaijan Province. Majid Farshi, the Director General of the Crisis Management Department, confirmed that a petrochemical plant was among the primary targets. While the facility sustained damage, Farshi noted that the strike did not result in a cessation of gasoline production.
"Two civilian locations in Tabriz were targeted in these attacks, including the control tower and runway of Tabriz Airport, as well as the Tabriz Petrochemical Plant. Fortunately, there were no fatalities or injuries reported in these two strikes," Farshi stated. He added that security, firefighting, and rescue teams were immediately deployed to the scenes to manage the emergency. The situation is currently reported to be under control, with engineers assessing the technical damage.
Tabriz, the capital of East Azerbaijan Province, is a major industrial and transportation hub in northwestern Iran. The city's petrochemical complex and international airport are critical components of the region's economic and logistical infrastructure. These strikes occur amid heightened regional tensions involving US President Donald Trump's administration and Israeli military operations, reflecting a significant escalation in the ongoing geopolitical conflict in the Middle East.
