A significant increase in water levels has been recorded in the Kura River in recent days, impacting the operation of several pumping stations that provide irrigation to agricultural fields. The Azerbaijan State Water Resources Agency reported that these measures were necessary to protect technical equipment and ensure safety during the period of increased water flow.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the Regional Water Melioration Service under the agency has temporarily removed pumping stations from the riverbanks in high-risk areas. "This step is aimed at preventing potential negative impacts and more serious consequences. Currently, the situation is under constant monitoring by the Service, and water supply is being maintained through alternative sources," the agency stated. It was further noted that the stations will be phased back into operation once water levels stabilize, and citizens are urged to rely only on official information regarding the situation in Azerbaijan.

The Kura River is the primary waterway in Azerbaijan and serves as a vital source for irrigation, industrial use, and hydroelectric power. Fluctuations in its water level, often influenced by seasonal precipitation and snowmelt in the Caucasus region, require proactive management by the Azerbaijan State Water Resources Agency to mitigate flood risks and ensure the sustainability of the country's agricultural sector. The agency continues to monitor hydrological conditions across the Republic to maintain the integrity of the national water management infrastructure.
