Türkiye’s Communications Director Burhanettin Duran has condemned Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s use of the UN General Assembly podium to make what he described as “baseless accusations” against Türkiye and President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
In a statement on the Turkish social media platform “NSosyal”, Duran said Netanyahu’s remarks were incompatible with the “ideals of peace, law and dialogue” represented by the United Nations.
Duran also referred to the International Criminal Court’s arrest warrant for Netanyahu, issued over alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity in the Gaza Strip, while criticising his comments targeting Erdogan.
Duran says Gaza crisis cannot be hidden
“Netanyahu’s statements against our President cannot make his massacres, the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza and the proceedings before international law invisible,” Duran wrote.
He said the situation was also recognised by the international community and that Netanyahu had become “more isolated than ever”.
Türkiye pledges continued support for Palestinians
“Under the leadership of our President, Türkiye will continue to defend the rights of the oppressed, including our Palestinian brothers and sisters, a more just world and peace, and to stand against injustice and oppression,” Duran added.
