Foundation work for the TRIPP project is scheduled to begin in 2026.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced these plans during the presentation of the ruling Civil Contract Party's election program.
According to the Prime Minister, the initial phase of the project is expected to commence in early 2026. "I am confident that we will start the foundation work in early 2026. Based on my estimates, the power lines will become operational even sooner. This project will also create numerous jobs," Pashinyan stated. He further noted that the reconstruction of the railway sections between the Gyumri–Turkey border and the Yeraskh–Nakhchivan border could be completed within 1 to 1.5 years.
The TRIPP initiative, which stands for "Trump’s Road to International Peace and Prosperity," is envisioned as a joint investment project between Armenia and the United States under the administration of US President Donald Trump. The project aims to develop regional transport infrastructure, including the restoration of the Gyumri–Kars railway line and the opening of transport links between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Such developments are expected to play a significant role in the East-West and North-South transport corridors, potentially enhancing economic integration and stability in the South Caucasus region.
