Tottenham Hotspur has initiated preliminary discussions with the representatives of Bayern Munich center-back Dayot Upamecano regarding a potential move to the London-based club.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports, citing foreign media outlets, that the Premier League side has inquired about the French international's current contract status and explored the conditions required for a possible transfer during the upcoming window.
According to Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg, Bayern Munich has granted the 25-year-old defender several weeks to decide on a final contract extension offer. However, Upamecano has yet to commit his future to the Bavarian giants, as he is reportedly monitoring potential interest from other European powerhouses, including Liverpool and Real Madrid.
Upamecano, who joined Bayern Munich from RB Leipzig in 2021, has established himself as a cornerstone of the German club's defense and a regular fixture in the French national team. His physical presence and ball-playing abilities have made him one of the most sought-after defenders in Europe. As Tottenham looks to bolster its defensive line under its current project, the Frenchman's decision is expected to be a focal point of the summer transfer market, with several elite clubs vying for his signature should he opt for a new challenge outside the Bundesliga.
