Following an extensive investigation into a residential fire in Tartar, law enforcement authorities have determined that the incident was a premeditated double murder. The perpetrator reportedly set fire to the house to conceal the crime, which also involved the theft of a significant sum of money.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the Prosecutor General's Office released details regarding the case, confirming that the tragedy was not an accident.
The incident occurred on August 6, 2026, at a private residence located on Nariman Narimanov Street in Tartar. Emergency services from the Ministry of Emergency Situations were dispatched to extinguish the blaze. Upon inspecting the scene, responders discovered the bodies of the homeowners, Asgar Samadov (born 1941) and his wife, Adila Huseynova (born 1954).
The Tartar District Prosecutor's Office immediately launched a criminal investigation. To determine the cause of death and the origin of the fire, a joint task force was assembled, including criminalists from the Prosecutor General's Office, investigators from the Ministry of Emergency Situations, local police, and forensic experts from the Ministry of Justice.
Evidence gathered during the investigation, including witness testimonies and forensic analysis, confirmed that the fire was deliberately set to cover up a robbery. Investigators identified Vugar Bakhshaliyev as the primary suspect. He is accused of stealing a large amount of money from the residence and subsequently setting the house on fire to eliminate evidence of the theft and the murder of the elderly couple.
Vugar Bakhshaliyev has been detained as a suspect. He faces charges under several articles of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan, including premeditated murder committed in a generally dangerous manner, murder for financial gain, murder to conceal another crime, and the murder of two or more persons.
The Prosecutor General's Office continues to lead the investigation to ensure a comprehensive legal assessment of the circumstances surrounding this crime.
