Reports circulating on social media claiming that the State Social Protection Fund (SSPF) under the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of the Population will provide a 1,000 AZN payment to citizens born between 1932 and 2017 are entirely false.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that Rashad Mehdili, head of the Fund's Public Relations Department, issued this warning on his official Facebook account.
The official noted that the viral video content is designed to deceive citizens: "In the information provided, viewers are directed to a link in the profile under the guise of reviewing an official list." This scheme is intended to obtain people's bank card details through fraudulent means, ultimately leading to the theft of funds.
Citizens are urged not to be deceived by this fake information and are strictly advised not to click on the provided link under any circumstances. Official social security updates in Azerbaijan are only communicated through the Ministry's formal websites and verified social media channels.
Cybersecurity threats and phishing attempts targeting social benefit recipients have seen a global increase, and Azerbaijan is no exception. The State Social Protection Fund regularly monitors such fraudulent activities to protect the financial security of the population. Authorities remind the public that legitimate government payments are processed through official electronic systems and do not require clicking on suspicious third-party links or providing CVV codes via social media platforms.
