The Azerbaijan Press Council has issued a formal appeal regarding the increasing instances of profanity, insults, immoral behavior, and hate speech during live broadcasts on social media platforms, specifically TikTok and YouTube.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the Council expressed deep concern over the negative trends observed in the digital space. According to the statement, such behaviors contribute to rising aggression within society and undermine national and moral values. The Council specifically highlighted the actions of certain bloggers and TikTok users residing abroad who openly insult and humiliate individuals, fostering an environment of confrontation.

The Press Council emphasized that freedom of expression does not justify the use of insults, hate speech, or the dissemination of false information. Users are urged to adhere to the legislation of Azerbaijan, ethical norms, and principles of public responsibility. This initiative aligns with Azerbaijan's broader efforts to promote a healthy digital environment and protect the public from harmful content. The Press Council, established in 2003, serves as a regulatory body to oversee media ethics and manage relations between the public, state authorities, and the media in Azerbaijan.
