South Korea will dispatch a special envoy to Iran to discuss the current situation in the Middle East and various bilateral issues.

The Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the South Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs released information regarding the upcoming diplomatic mission. During a recent telephone conversation, the South Korean Foreign Minister emphasized the critical importance of ensuring free navigation through the Strait of Hormuz to his Iranian counterpart.

The discussions are expected to focus on regional stability and the protection of commercial shipping lanes, which are vital for global energy supplies. Both sides expressed a desire to maintain open channels of communication to prevent further escalation in the region. The visit marks a significant step in Seoul's efforts to balance its diplomatic relations while addressing security concerns in the Persian Gulf.

The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the world's most important oil transit chokepoints, through which approximately one-fifth of the world's total oil consumption passes. South Korea, as a major energy importer, maintains a strategic interest in the stability of the Middle East and the uninterrupted flow of maritime traffic. This diplomatic initiative follows a series of international efforts to de-escalate tensions and ensure the safety of international waters.
