Two children who suffered from carbon monoxide poisoning in the Taghiyev settlement of Sumgait have been discharged from the hospital, while others remain under medical supervision.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the Administration of the Regional Medical Divisions (TABIB) released an update regarding the health status of the victims. According to the official statement, two individuals continue their treatment at the Children's Hospital of the Sumgait Medical Center, where their condition is currently assessed as moderately severe.
Medical officials further noted that two other patients, who were being treated in the infectious diseases department, were discharged for outpatient care after their condition was deemed satisfactory. However, one child transferred to the A.F. Garayev Children's Clinical Hospital under the Republican Pediatric Center remains in serious but stable condition with a diagnosis of meningoencephalitis.
The incident occurred on April 1 in the Haji Zeynalabdin Taghiyev settlement of Sumgait, where six members of a single family were poisoned by carbon monoxide. Tragically, a 2-year-old girl lost her life on April 3 as a result of the exposure. Carbon monoxide poisoning remains a significant public safety concern in Azerbaijan during the colder months, often linked to the improper use of gas heaters or faulty ventilation systems in residential properties. Authorities in Azerbaijan frequently urge citizens to conduct regular inspections of heating equipment to prevent such domestic tragedies.
