Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan held a telephone conversation with Japanese Prime Minister Takaichi to discuss the development of bilateral relations between the two nations.

According to the Directorate of Communications of the Turkish Presidential Administration, as reported by the Operative Information Center-OMM, the leaders emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation, particularly in the fields of defense industry, trade, and investment. President Erdogan expressed Turkey's commitment to further expanding these strategic ties with Japan.

The conversation also covered pressing items on the regional and global agenda. Addressing the ongoing tensions between Iran and the United States, President Erdogan underscored that diplomatic dialogue remains the only viable path to resolving the conflict. He reiterated Turkey's support for diplomatic efforts aimed at ensuring lasting peace and stability in the region.

During the call, President Erdogan also extended his condolences to Prime Minister Takaichi regarding the lives lost in the earthquake that struck Japan's Kumamoto region last month.

Turkey and Japan have historically maintained strong diplomatic relations, often referred to as a strategic partnership. Both nations frequently coordinate on international platforms to address global security challenges and economic cooperation, reflecting their shared interests in maintaining stability across Eurasia and the Indo-Pacific.
