Azerbaijan is bracing for a significant rise in temperatures, with forecasts indicating that the mercury could climb as high as 40°C tomorrow. This alert was issued by the National Hydrometeorological Service to the Operative Information Center-OMM.
According to the official statement, weather conditions in Baku and the Absheron Peninsula are expected to remain largely dry, with occasional strengthening of the north-westerly wind. Temperatures in the capital are projected to range between 21-26°C at night and 28-32°C during the day. Atmospheric pressure is expected to rise from 754 mm to 757 mm of mercury, with relative humidity levels fluctuating between 50-80% throughout the day.
Across the regions of Azerbaijan, the weather is expected to be mostly dry, though short-term showers, lightning, and hail are possible in some mountainous and foothill areas during the day. Nighttime and morning fog may occur in certain mountainous regions. Temperatures in the regions are forecast to reach 35-38°C, with some areas hitting 40°C, while mountainous regions will see more moderate temperatures between 24-29°C during the day. Such heatwaves are characteristic of the Azerbaijani summer, which often sees peak temperatures in July and August, prompting authorities to advise citizens to take necessary health precautions during peak sunlight hours.
