The Russian military has launched another massive missile attack on Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, resulting in significant civilian casualties and infrastructure damage.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko confirmed that several districts of the city sustained severe damage during the strikes. Klitschko reported that the attacks impacted critical infrastructure, including damage to a children's hospital in the Solomyanskyi district. Preliminary reports indicate that at least 8 people have been killed and 33 injured in the capital.
The State Emergency Service of Ukraine stated that search and rescue operations are currently underway in the Svyatoshynskyi, Darnytskyi, and Solomyanskyi districts of Kyiv, where debris removal continues amidst ongoing security concerns.
In addition to the assault on the capital, Russian forces targeted the Zhytomyr region. These strikes resulted in 2 fatalities and 40 injuries. A major fire broke out at a local police station in the region following the impact. The ongoing conflict, which intensified significantly following the full-scale invasion in February 2022, continues to cause widespread destruction across Ukrainian urban centers, with international observers frequently condemning attacks on civilian-populated areas.
