A new shipment of grain from Russia to Armenia is being transported today via transit through Azerbaijan, according to the Operative Information Center-OMM.
The cargo, consisting of 6 wagons carrying 420 tons of wheat and 4 wagons carrying 280 tons of barley, is departing from the Bilajari station of Azerbaijan Railways CJSC, heading toward the Boyuk Kasik border crossing.
To date, significant volumes of goods have been transported from Russia to Armenia via Azerbaijani transit routes, including over 54,000 tons of grain, nearly 9,000 tons of fertilizer, 1,414 tons of propane, 133 tons of aluminum, 1,114 tons of coal, and 334 tons of timber. Additionally, approximately 15,000 tons of diesel fuel and nearly 5,000 tons of AI-92 and AI-95 gasoline have been exported from Azerbaijan to Armenia.
This transit operation highlights the role of Azerbaijan's transport infrastructure in regional logistics. The country's railway network serves as a critical link in the North-South and East-West transport corridors, facilitating the movement of goods across the South Caucasus region.
