Romania's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) has summoned the Russian Ambassador to Bucharest, Vladimir Lipayev, following the discovery of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) debris in the city of Galati. The incident occurred amid ongoing Russian strikes on Ukrainian infrastructure near the Romanian border.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports, citing Romanian media and official statements, that the drone was used in attacks against Ukrainian civilian targets before violating Romanian airspace. The MFA characterized the event as an "irresponsible and provocative act" that undermines international law and endangers the local population. "The Russian Federation has once again violated the sovereignty of Romania's airspace through another irresponsible action," the ministry stated.

As a NATO member, Romania has faced several instances of drone fragments falling on its territory since the escalation of the conflict in Ukraine. These incidents are frequently linked to Russian strikes on Ukrainian port infrastructure along the Danube River, located in close proximity to the Romanian border. The Ministry of Internal Affairs confirmed that investigations are ongoing at the site in Galati, where debris damaged a power pole and a residential building, with specialists examining the wreckage for potential explosive materials.
