Rubinyan: Vaşinqton bəyannaməsi real nəticələr verib

The peace declaration signed between Armenia and Azerbaijan in Washington last year has led to tangible results, according to Armenian parliamentary speaker Ruben Rubinyan.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that Rubinyan made these remarks in a video address marking the first anniversary of the declaration's signing.

"When the peace declaration was signed in Washington a year ago, skeptics did not believe it would lead to real peace. They did not believe it would end the endless skirmishes and casualties at the border. They did not believe we would emerge from the blockade," he stated.

According to Rubinyan, Armenia has not only overcome the blockade but has also become the first to experience the positive outcomes of its lifting, gaining railway access to the world through the territory of Azerbaijan.

He added that a similar process is underway regarding Turkey, noting that Ankara recently lifted restrictions on Armenia's use of its railway network.

"This is real peace, and we should rejoice in it. We deserve peace. Yes, not all problems have been solved yet," Rubinyan noted.

The Washington declaration serves as a framework for ongoing normalization efforts between Baku and Yerevan. Since the end of the 44-day Patriotic War in 2020, the Republic of Azerbaijan has consistently advocated for a comprehensive peace treaty based on international law, emphasizing the importance of regional connectivity and the opening of transport corridors, such as the Zangezur corridor, to ensure long-term stability in the South Caucasus.
