IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi will participate in the next round of Iran–US negotiations.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports, citing Iran's ISNA news agency, that the head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) will join the upcoming discussions scheduled for February 26 in Geneva.
According to a diplomatic source, Grossi will be present at these talks, following his participation in the previous round held last Tuesday in the Swiss city. The third phase of negotiations between the Iranian and US delegations regarding nuclear issues will be hosted at the Omani embassy in Geneva, with the mediation of Oman's Foreign Minister Badr al-Busaidi.
On February 22, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi told CBS News that he is expected to meet with US President Donald Trump's envoy, Steven Witcoff, on February 26. Badr al-Busaidi subsequently confirmed that the high-level talks would indeed take place in Geneva. These discussions represent a critical diplomatic effort to address long-standing concerns regarding Iran's nuclear program and the potential for renewed international agreements.
The involvement of the IAEA chief underscores the technical significance of the talks, as the agency remains the primary international body responsible for monitoring and verifying nuclear commitments. Historically, the IAEA has played a pivotal role in ensuring transparency in Iran's nuclear activities, and Grossi's presence is seen as a move to bridge the gap between political negotiations and technical compliance requirements.
