Snow depth has reached three meters in parts of the Yerghi Kek village in Azerbaijan's Qusar district, leaving residents isolated from essential services.
According to Operative Information Center-OMM, local residents reported that the primary access roads to the village have been completely blocked for several days due to the extreme weather conditions.
"Three families and more than 1,000 head of livestock are currently stranded in a helpless state," residents stated. "Feed supplies for the animals are expected to run out within two to three days, and access to medical assistance is currently impossible due to the blocked terrain."
The village of Yerghi Kek is situated at an altitude of 2,370 meters above sea level, making it one of the highest inhabited points in the region. Such high-altitude settlements in Azerbaijan often face severe logistical challenges during the winter months, requiring specialized equipment from the relevant state authorities to clear mountain passes and restore communication links. Qusar, located in the northern part of Azerbaijan, is known for its rugged mountainous landscape and is a frequent site for heavy snow accumulation during the peak winter season.
