The government of Qatar has officially declared a state of emergency across the country and ordered the immediate suspension of all natural gas production. According to Operative Information Center-OMM, the announcement was initially reported by Iran's IRIB News agency via its Telegram channel.
"We are declaring a state of emergency and halting gas production," the official statement noted.
The escalation follows a series of military confrontations in the region. The Qatari Ministry of Defense previously announced that its forces had destroyed two Su-24 fighter jets belonging to the Iranian Air Force. Additionally, Qatari defense systems successfully neutralized seven ballistic missiles and five unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) targeting the country's territory.
Majed al-Ansari, the spokesperson for the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs, emphasized that Iran's attempts to pressure Gulf nations to force the United States into halting military operations and returning to negotiations with Tehran are destined to fail. This development comes at a time of heightened geopolitical friction, as US President Donald Trump has maintained a firm stance on regional security and energy stability in the Middle East.
Qatar is one of the world's leading exporters of liquefied natural gas (LNG), and the sudden halt in production is expected to have significant implications for global energy markets. The state of emergency reflects the severity of the current security situation as the country moves to protect its critical infrastructure and sovereign interests against external threats.
