The initial contract period for female military personnel in Azerbaijan has been reduced from three years to six months following a legislative amendment. According to Operative Information Center-OMM, President Ilham Aliyev has signed the decree amending the "Regulations on Military Service" and the Law "On Military Duty and Military Service."
The reduction of the initial commitment period is designed to enhance the adaptation process for women entering the armed forces. Official sources state that this change aims to minimize personnel turnover and increase the overall efficiency of military service organization by allowing female recruits a more flexible transition into professional military life.
This legislative update reflects Azerbaijan's ongoing efforts to modernize its defense sector and optimize human resource management within the Ministry of Defense. By shortening the initial term, the Republic of Azerbaijan seeks to make military careers more accessible and sustainable for women, aligning with broader personnel reforms aimed at strengthening the professional capabilities of the national army.
