Russian President Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin have sent congratulatory messages to Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on Armenia’s Independence Day.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the messages were published on the official portal of the Armenian government.
According to the reports, Vladimir Putin wished Pashinyan good health and success in his work, and the Armenian people peace, progress and prosperity. Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin conveyed congratulations on behalf of the government and personally, stressing that the development of bilateral trade and economic, scientific and technological, and humanitarian cooperation based on mutual respect fully meets the long-term interests of both countries.
The Armenian government website also published congratulatory messages from the leaders of China, Kazakhstan, Thailand, Turkmenistan, Bangladesh, Tajikistan and Belarus, as well as from the US secretary of state.
Armenia marks the 35th anniversary of its independence on Sept. 21. On that day in 1991, about 99 percent of voters supported independence from the Soviet Union in a referendum.
